Food For Thought
How do you feel when you try to communicate an important and urgent message to someone through the phone, and the person at the other end of the line is saying, "Hello, hello, I can't hear you." At the same time, you're hearing the person.
Frustrated right? Maybe even angry? During moments like this, you sometimes feel like hitting your phone against the wall. You sometimes even question the functionality of your phone. Now, if you've ever felt this way when you didn't hear the person at the other end of the line, why are you comfortable not hearing God?
Well, that's food for thought. In this blog post, I'll give a few points that will put you on the right track to hearing God without involving someone else. You may not get your desired result until you position your heart to walk through the process.
Relationship With God
I want to state that hearing God is an exclusive right for His children. Jesus was emphatic in His statement, "My sheep," "My voice." "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (John 10:27-28).
Let me ask you a question. If you meet a stranger, can you begin to tell him the secrets of your family? Probably not, right? God cannot share secrets with someone not a member of his family either. You must build a relationship with God in order to hear his voice by yourself.
Studying God's Word
The dream of every mother is to see her child growing and healthy. However, that baby's growth depends on the kind of food the mother gives her. A newborn gets all the nutrients she needs through breast milk and not "solid food." Likewise, God desires to see you grow spiritually. "As newborns, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." (1 Peter 2:2)
Prayer
Prayer is a weapon of warfare. A means of communicating heaven to quick intervention on earth. The importance of prayer cannot be over-emphasized. You either pray or become prey. Which one will it be for you? You learn how to hear God starting from small and trivial things. Let me say it this way; "If you've never heard God speak to you in relatively small and trivial matters, it may be difficult to hear him speak to you on sensitive issues."
